Jayachander Madhurakavi

BHMS, AROH · Homeo Consultant

Jayachander Madhurakavi obtained his BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery) in 1995 in India. During his years of practice there he worked alongside some of India's most eminent homeopaths. He later established his practice at Wentworthville, NSW, and continues to serve the community.

A family history

Madhurakavi’s grandfather was one of the first homeopathic doctors in the Telangana region of India. In 1949, just after independence, he established his own homeopathic pharmacy and clinic, Chandra Homoeo Stores, which became well known throughout the region. His two sons qualified as homeopathic doctors, and Jayachander’s father continued the family legacy. The family’s principles of practice were founded on the belief that any imbalance in body, mind and spirit can manifest in physical and emotional health.

The lineage continued

At about ten years old Jayachander began working at the front desk of the pharmacy and clinic, listening to patient enquiries. By fourteen he was already answering questions about remedies, herbal medicines, manufacturing, supply and dosage. After high school he joined a homeopathic college, and from his second year saw patients alongside his father, learning more from observation than from books.

Education and training

Jayachander completed his BHMS, a five and a half year medical degree, and joined the family practice in 1995. Encouraged by his father, he travelled throughout India to work with eminent homeopaths, alongside cardiologists, neurologists, endocrinologists, ENT and orthopaedic specialists.

On human health

Having practised in both India and Australia, Jayachander came to see that all humans are physiologically the same, yet each is unique in how they respond to the world. Environment and lifestyle individualise a person more than genetics. Not all fevers are the same, nor all sufferings, so the art and science of case-taking is vital.
